Greener

The Earth is flat.

Well it is when you’re doing 76 on 75

Focused on the wooly clouds

stretched across the sky

And little else but grass and crops

expanding on every side

as you increase the space between.

Some have called it lonely,

others uninspired,

But to this West Virginia woman

who finally escaped the coal cave

of cognitive dissonance and mistrust

of anything

outside the proud valley of

Friendlier Than Everyone Else,

This flat earth prairie

feels more like freedom.
